BioMEMS is the application of MEMS technology in the field of Biomedical and Health Sciences. It is expected to revolutionize the way medicine is practiced and delivered. BioMEMS finds applications in the fields of microfluidics, drug delivery, transducers for surgical tools, etc. Low cost, reliability and reproducibility are the characteristics required for any successful manufacturing process. This holds true for an affordable MEMS manufacturing process also.
We, at the BioMEMS Lab, aim to devise a system which will enable rapid manufacturing of affordable BioMEMS devices. This is being accomplished by integrating a Hot Embossing microfabrication system with a Femtosecond laser micromachining facility.
